Jankowski Repeats as SAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week
ROCK HILL, SC -- Catawba senior hurler JJ Jankwoski (McMurray, PA/Peters Township HS/Miami,OH) and Tusculum second baseman Matt Henriksen have been selected as the SAC baseball weekly award winners. Jankowski wins the Pitcher of the Week honor for the second week in a row. It was announced by the league office on Tuesday.
Jankowski continued his hot start for Catawba, winning his third straight start. He threw seven strong innings to grab a win on Friday against Mars Hill.
The senior gave up just one run in the game, striking out 11 while walking none. He allowed just five hits – only one of which went for extra bases.
In three starts this season, Jankowski has a 1.71 ERA and an opponent batting average of .205.
Henriksen had a big week for Tusculum, which at 10-0 is off the best start in program history. In four games, the junior batted .600 with four doubles, three RBI and three walks. He also scored nine runs on the week.
Henriksen’s biggest game came in the Pioneers’ SAC opener against Wingate on Friday, as the Hingham, MA, native finished with three hits – including a double – and two RBI. He also recorded three hits on Wednesday against Shepherd.
