Men's Soccer title hopes end with 2-0 loss at PC

CLINTON, SC -- Presbyterian College scored twice in the second half and defeated visiting Catawba 2-0 in South Atlantic Conference men’s soccer action on Saturday night. With the win, the Blue Hose record improves to 6-5 overall and 5-1 in the SAC, while Catawba falls to 9-6 and 3-3.The first period saw both teams take numerous shots at the goal but neither team was able to net a goal. The Indians senior goalkeeper David Durham (Oak Ridge, TN) had five saves on the evening and made many diving stops. Matching him on the other side of the pitch was the Blue Hose sophomore goalkeeper Kevin Czar (Lilburn, GA) who also had five saves. Twnety minutes into the second half, Presbyterian broke the ice as senior midfielder Nick Haigler (Columbia, SC) netted a ball off of an assist from junior midfielder Guy Campbell (Arden, NC). In the 72nd minute, junior defender Eric Moses (Conyers, GA) drilled a ball 30 yards from the net over Durham’s head to give the Blue Hose a 2-0 lead and seal the victory.
