Baseball Squeaks By Stillman 4-3 Once Again
TUSCALOOSA, AL -- For the second straight day, 23rd-ranked Catawba picked up a 4-3 win over host Stillman in baseball action on Wednesday afternoon at Tiger Field. The Catawba Indians improve to 15-5, while the Tigers fall to 2-12.
The Indians escaped when John Tuttle (Kannapolis, NC/A.L. Brown HS) worked out of a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the ninth. Down 3-1 after Chris Dula (Troutman, NC/S. Iredell HS) delivered a RBI on a ground out, Stillman picked up a pair of runs in the third to tie the score. Dion Bryant and Jarius Brown singled home the runs.
Catawba scored the winning run in the fifth. Craig Brooks (Monroe, NC/Parkwood HS) led off with a double and went to third on a single by Ryan Bostian (Kannapolis, NC/S. Rowan HS/Montreat). Julio Zubillaga (China Grove, NC/Carson HS) got the run in on a sacrifice fly.
