Men's Lacrosse Cruises Past Florida Tech

MELBOURNE, FL -- Catawba claimed a 15-2 win over host Florida Tech in Deep South Conference men's lacrosse action on Thursday night at Hustler Stadium.  The 10th-ranked Catawba Indians got goals from a dozen different players in improving to 6-0 overall and 2-0 in the DSC.  The Panthers, field a team for the first season, falls to 0-7 and 0-6.

Steve Ridolfo (Charlotte, NC/Providence HS/Gettysburg), Trevor Sieracki (Austin, TX/Anderson HS) and Adam Hebert all scored a pair of goals from the Indians.  Ridolfo added an assist to join Braden Artem (Acton, Ontario, CANADA/Christ the King HS), who had a goal and two assists with three total points on the night.

Catawba racked up 50 shots to just 18 for the Panthers and picked up a +14 edge in ground balls 38 to 24.  Michael Pecchia (Coquitlam, BC, CANADA/Heritage Woods) played nearly three quarters of the game, allowing one goal and stopping six shots.

The Indians scored the first four goals to take a 4-0 lead midway through the opening quarter.  Sieracki had the first tally at the 13:10 mark.  After Christian Isola scored for the Panthers, Catawba added four more goals before the half to give the visitors an 8-1 lead at the break.

Catawba ran its stretch of consecutive goals nine with five more to start the second half and a 13-1 lead with just over 12 minutes remaining.  John Scheich (Waxhaw, NC/Weddington HS), Freddie Turcio (Guilford, CT/Guilford HS), Alex Hodges (Columbia, SC/Whitney Point(NY) HS, Broome CC) and Brendan Kennedy (Weddington, NC/Weddington HS) all had a goal and an assist in the win.
