Women's Lacrosse Falls to Converse 18-2
SPARTANBURG, SC -- Converse posted an 18-2 win over visiting Catawba in women’s lacrosse action on Wednesday night at Fulp Stadium. The Valkyries level their record at 4-4, while the Catawba Indians fall to 1-5.
Sam Green scored five goals to lead Converse, who tallied the first eight goals of the game. Green, Jordy Taylor and Lindsey Reuss each had two goals in the opening half. Myra Clark (Neward, DE/Glasgow HS/Cecil CC) put the Lady Indians on the board with 2:40 left in the half.
Ebony Mills (Harrison, ME/Oxford Hills HS/Mount Ida) added another just a minute into the second half to cut the Catawba deficit to 9-2, but Converse tallied the final nien goals en route to the win. Tylor followed Green with four goals for the Valkyries, while Reuss and Brianna Hoffman each had three tallies.
Converse out-shot Catawba 39-18. Haley Register (Simpsonville, SC/Mauldin HS) made 15 saves in goal for the Lady Indians. Register also picked up five ground balls along with Kortney Kavanagh (Shoreham, NY/Shoreham-Wading River HS) and Chelsey Ferraro (Tampa, FL/Plant HS).
