Women's Lacrosse Cruises Past NC Wesleyan for Win #2
SALISBURY, NC -- Catawba cruised to an 18-1 victory over visiting NC Wesleyan in women’s lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon at Shuford Stadium. With the win, the Catawba Indians improve to 2-6. The Battling Bishops fall to 0-9.
Ebony Mills (Harrison, ME/Oxford Hills HS/Mount Ida) scored five goals and Kim McConnery (Welland, Ontario, CANADA/Notre Dame HS/Monroe CC) added four more to pace the Lady Indians. Chelsey Ferraro (Tampa, FL/Plant HS) scored the first of her three goals 32 seconds into the game to give Catawba a lead it would never relinquish.
Catawba led 12-0 at the half with Mills and McConnery each scoring three times. Kortney Kavanagh (Shoreham, NC/Shoreham-Wading River HS) and Jessica Leroux (Ajax, Ontario, CANADA/Archbishop O’Connor HS) each had a pair of goals for the Lady Indians. Connor Wright (Taylorsville, NC) and Laine Hicks (Austin, MN) had the goals for NC Wesleyan.
The Lady Indians held a 42-7 edge in shots and collected 29 ground balls to 21 for NCWC. Casey Burd (Lawrenceville, GA) posted 14 saves for the Battling Bishops. Haley Register (Simpsonville, SC/Mauldin HS) had two saves and allowed no goals in her 42 minutes of action for Catawba.
