Perusse Nets Goal in Women's Lacrosse Loss at Belmont Abbey

BELMONT, NC – Belmont Abbey claimed a 23-1 win over visiting Catawba in women’s lacrosse action on Wednesday afternoon at Alumni Field.  The Crusaders improve to 6-6, while the Catawba Indians fall to 2-9.

Kelsey Perusse (Shelton, CT/Shelton HS) scored the lone Catawba goal just a minute before halftime.  Belmont Abbey had tallied the first 11 goals and led 12-1 at the break.  Megan Patton scored the first two Crusader goals and finished with three on the afternoon.  Elyse Mohn led Belmont Abbey with four goals and two assists. 

Belmont Abbey held a commanding 40-14 edge in shots and won 20 of the 26 draw controls.  Sami Santoli (Nesconset, NY/Smithtown West HS) had one of the draw controls for Catawba, while grabbing four ground balls and causing a pair of turnovers.  Haley Register (Simpsonville, SC/Mauldin HS) collected 11 saves in goal for Catawba.
