Hyde sets new backstroke mark at Boo Bash Swim Relays

SALISBURY, NC – Catawba College finished second behind Wingate at the Boo Bash Swim Relays on Saturday afternoon at Johnson Pool. The Lady Indians scored 90 points to Wingate’s 190. N.C. A&T finished third with 74 points and were followed by Pfeiffer (38), Salem (22) and Limestone (10). Wingate won eight 10 relay events and placed two teams in the top three in six events. Catawba earned wins in the other two relays, the 800 freestyle and 400 freestyle. The Lady Indians nipped Wingate in the 800 free by just 1/100th of a second. Six of the 10 relays were decided by less than five seconds. Catawba won the 400 free by just over two seconds. In the 300 backstroke relay, freshman Erin Hyde (Lilburn, GA) set a new standard in the 100 back with a leadoff leg of 1:01.84. TEAM STANDINGS 1. Wingate 190 2. Catawba 98 3. N.C. A&T 74 4.
