O'Hagan's goal lifts Women's Soccer to tournament final

GREENEVILLE, NC – Senior Kim O’Hagan (Branchburg, NJ) delivered a goal in the fifth minute and second-seeded Catawba held off sixth-seeded Wingate 1-0 to advance to the final of the 2002 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference women's soccer tournament at Tusculum College. With the win, the Lady Indians, ranked 16th in NCAA II, improve to 14-2-1 and advance to Sunday's championship match against Lenoir-Rhyne (4:30 p.m.). Wingate completes its record-setting season 14-4-2 overall. O’Hagan did not have a goal in the regular season, but has struck three times in the tournament, including a pair in the opening round win over Mars Hill. The match was a defensive battle as the two teams managed only 15 shots (combined) for the evening. The Indians outshot the Bulldogs 8-7. Catawba had six shots on goal, while Wingate tallied five shots on goal.
