With the opening set tied at 8-8, Raye and Parrish had kills to start a 6-2 Catawba run that ended with a Parrish ace for a 14-10 Lady Indian edge.  An ace by Abby Pennington (Blacksburg, VA/Blacksburg HS) and a kill from Whitmer pushed the lead to 20-14.  Pennington and Whitmer closed out the set with kills.

Whitmer served an ace and posted consecutive kills to help Catawba to an early 6-2 lead in set two.  The Lady Indians led 9-4 before LMU began to rally.  A kill by Oates cut the margin to 10-8 and a Fowler kill cut the deficit to 14-13 before the Lady Splitters pulled even at 15-all.  Brewer had Catawba up 17-15 after a kill, but LMU ran off four straight points that Drumm capped with a kill.  Whitmer pulled the Lady Indians within 22-21, but Fowler had a kill then combined with Drumm on a block that ended the set.

Lincoln Memorial rolled in set three.  Fowler’s kill made it 5-1 early and a later kill had LMU up 14-6.  That kill started an eight-point run the put the Lady Railsplitters on top 21-6.  Oates would kill off the final point.

Catawba rallied from an early 9-4 deficit in set four with five straight points to tie the set on a Raye kill.  Two kills from Whitmer and an error on LMU put the Lady Indians up 12-10.  From there, LMU went on a 9-1 run to take control at 19-13.  Catawba pulled to within 23-19, but LMU had enough to close out the match.
