Swimmers Take Wins Over Lenoir-Rhyne and Converse
SALISBURY, NC -- Catawba picked up wins over Lenoir-Rhyne and Converse in swimming action on Saturday afternoon at Johnson Pool. The men grabbed a 147.5-94.5 victory over Lenoir-Rhyne. The women topped Lenoir-Rhyne 93-28 and beat Converse 70-52.
Leah Constan-Tatos (Johannesburg, SOUTH AFRICA) highlighted the meet for Catawba, swimming to a school record in the women’s 50 fly with a time of 27.46. Nadine Brockmann (Hamburg, GERMANY) won both the 200 free and 50 free, while Janin Kassner (Geisen, GERMANY) claimed the 50 breast and 200 breast. Katia Kruglov (Karmiel, ISRAEL) took the 100 back and Filippa Wallin (Helsingborg, SWEDEN) won the 500 free.
For the men, Sebastian Holmberg (Akersberga, SWEDEN) had two individual winning swims on the day, touching first in the 100 fly and 100 back as well. Other multiple winners for the men were Tomas Goutt (Saint Witz, FRANCE), Magnus Lundgren (Alvsjo, SWEDEN) and Theo Zatterstrom (Stockholm, SWEDEN). Goutt won the 1000 free and 50 back, Lundgren the 100 free and 50 fly and Zatterstrom the 200 free and 500 free. The other winners for the men was Eric Hatley (Albermarle, NC/N. Stanly HS) in the 50 free and Andrew McCollister (Rockwell, NC/Salisbury HS) in the 200 IM.
