Women's Lacrosse Falls to Roberts Wesleyan
SALISBURY, NC -- Roberts Wesleyan got seven goals from Loren Dunn in posting a 16-3 win over host Catawba in women’s lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon at Shuford Stadium. The Redhawks win their opener, while the Catawba Indians fall to 0-2.
Catawba led 2-1 early after goals from Erin Palma (Saratoga Springs, NY/Schuylerville HS)/New England College) and Ebony Mills (Harrison, ME/Oxford Hills HS/Mount Ida). Dunn would rally RWC, scoring its first three goals and putting the Railhawks up to stay with her tally at the 15:10 mark of the opening half.
Dunn started a 13-0 run for Roberts Wesleyan that gave the visitors a 14-2 edge with just under 10 minutes remaining in the game. Chelsey Bauer (Tampa, FL/Plant HS) stopped the drought for Catawba on her tally with 7:04 left. The Railhawks held a 33-9 edge in shots and won 14 of 19 draw controls. Bethany Davis (Salisbury, MD/Parkside HS) had 11 saves in goal for the Lady Indians.
Catawba will return to Shuford Stadium on Wednesday night as it hosts Belmont Abbey at 7 p.m.
