Tennis Teams Fall at Pfeiffer

MISENHEIMER, NC -- The Catawba College tennis teams fell to host Pfeiffer University in non-conference tennis action on Wednesday afternoon.  The Catawba Indian men fell 8-1, while the Lady Indians lost 6-3 at the Knapp Tennis Center. The men’s team now stands at 5-3 overall, while the women fall to 6-2 on the season.  Pfeiffer’s men improve to 3-2 and the women up their mark to 3-3.

In men’s action, Pfeiffer rolled over Catawba picking up wins in all six singles matches.  Catawba’s Mitchell McDonald (Wellington, NEW ZEALAND/Paraparaumu College) and Jack Mordey (Leighton Buzzard, ENGLAND/Tring School) teamed up in #2 doubles to pick up the lone win for the Tribe with an 8-5 set.

Freshman Liz Renteria (Miramar, FL/Archbishop McCarthy HS) suffered her first loss of the season in a tough 7-5, 7-5 loss to Taylor Lindsay. Ally Prior (Raleigh, NC/Wakefield HS), Olivia Myers (Lexington, NC/W. Davidson HS), and Andrea Bell (Franklin, NC/Franklin HS) picked up the wins for the Lady Indians in singles play.  Catawba fell in all three doubles matches. 

Catawba returns to action on Sunday as both teams travel to Lincoln Memorial to open up conference play at 10:00 a.m.
