SALISBURY, NC -- Catawba completed a weekend sweep of visiting Brevard in South Atlantic Conference baseball action on Saturday afternoon at Newman Park.  The 25th-ranked Catawba Indians won both ends of a doubleheader 15-0 and 10-3 to improve to 17-5 overall and 8-4 in the SAC.  The Tornados fall to 9-14 and 5-7.

John Tuttle (Kannapolis, NC/Brown HS) allowed no runs on just one hit in his seven innings of work as Catawba easily won the opener.  Garrett Furr (Gold Hill, NC/Mt. Pleasant HS) and Chris Dula (Troutman, NC/S. Iredell HS) hit solo home runs to help the Indians to a 3-0 edge after three.  Catawba broke the game open with a seven-run fourth.

Keaton Hawks (Lexington, NC/E. Davidson HS) had a three-run homer to get the inning going, while Danny Parisi (Shirley, NC/Longwood HS) capped the frame with a two-run single.  Parisi finished the game with three hits and three RBI.  Blake Houston (Mt. Ulla, NC/S. Rowan HS) also collected three hits in the win.

Tuttle improved to 4-2 with his strong effort.  He walked one and fanned seven.  Kody Spencer had the lone hit for Brevard, a single to lead off the second.  Hawks collected four RBI for Catawba.

The Indians used a seven-spot for the third straight game, this time in the first inning to go on top 7-0.  Dula had a two-run homer and Jon Wallace (Salisbury, NC/NW Cabarrus HS/Lynchburg) a two-run single in the frame that was aided by three Tornado errors.

Furr also homered in game two as did Paul Kronenfeld (Greensboro, NC/Woodberry Forest HS/Georgia Tech), who made it 10-2 in the fourth with his two-run blast.  Matthew Proffitt had a solo homer for Brevard and Chris Christopolous singled home a run.  The final run for the Tornados came when Champ Stuart stole home on the back end of a double steal.

Ross Whitley (Mooresville, NC/Lake Norman HS) grabbed the win to improve to 4-0.  He went five innings, allowing three runs off four hits.  He fanned eight.  Dula had two hits for the Indians.

Catawba will travel to Wingate on Tuesday for a non-league game with the Bulldogs at 6 p.m.
