Men's Tennis Falls at NCAA I Charlotte
CHARLOTTE, NC -- Catawba fell to NCAA I Charlotte 7-0 in men's tennis action on Monday afternoon at the Halton-Wagner Tennis Complex. The 49ers improve to 7-5, while the Catawba Indian fall to 10-6.
Charlotte swept the doubles to grab the initial point of the match. Jess Goodall (Johannesburg, SOUTH AFRICA/Northcliff) and Aaron Vanhorenbeck (Oldsmar, FL/East Lake HS) put up the best fight for Catawba, falling 8-6 at #3. Catawba lost the six singles matches in straight sets. At #1, Alex Macdonald (Lowen Hutt, NEW ZEALAND/Hutt International) lost 7-5 in the second set and Mitchell McDonald (Wellington, NEW ZEALAND/Paraparaumu) took his foe to a second-set tiebreaker at #4.
Catawba will be back in action on Wednesday along with the women as they host Wingate in league matches beginning at 2 p.m.
