Dula Selected as SAC Baseball Player of the Week
ROCK HILL, SC -- Catawba first baseman Chris Dula (Troutman, NC/S. Iredell HS) and Lenoir-Rhyne first baseman Colton Hansley have been named co-SAC Baseball Players of the Week, while Wingate starter Olen Little was selected as the conference’s Pitcher of the Week. It was announced on Tuesday.
Dula paced Catawba in a dominant three-game sweep of Brevard over the weekend. He also helped the Indians split a two-game series with sixth-ranked USC Aiken earlier in the week.
The junior had four multi-hit games on the week and homered in both games of a double-header with Brevard on Saturday. He also had five of his six RBI in the BC series.
For the week, Dula hit .556 with a .619 OBP.
Hansley, meanwhile, led Lenoir-Rhyne to a weekend sweep of Anderson by hitting .556 with a slugging percentage of 1.333. The senior had hits in all three games, including a three-hit performance on Friday in an 8-1 L-R win that included a double.
Hansley then hit home runs in both games of a Saturday double-header. For the week, he had five RBI, four run scored and compiled an on-base percentage of .692.
Little clinched a series victory for Wingate over LMU on Sunday by throwing seven scoreless innings in a 9-2 Bulldog win. He allowed just five hits in the game while striking out five and walking none. Just one LMU hit against the right-hander went for extra bases.
The performance lowered Little’s SAC-best ERA to 0.92. He has allowed only four earned runs and 31 hits in 39 innings pitched so far this season.
