Men's Lacrosse Gets Off to Rough Start in Loss at Queens
CHARLOTTE, NC -- Queens scored the first 10 goals and went on to post a 17-8 win over visiting Catawba in men's lacrosse action on Wednesday night at Dixon Field. The Royals improve to 3-3, while the Catawba Indians fall to 2-5.
Queens put up five goals in the opener quarter then used a two-minute non-releasable penalty on Catawba to score three goals to up its lead to 10-0 at the 11:12 mark of the second quarter. The Indians scored the final four goals of the half to close within 10-4 at the break.
Catawba still trailed by six entering the final quarter and reduced the margin to 13-8 midway into the fourth on a goal by Tom Cullop (New Windsor, MD/S. Carroll HS). That would be as close as the Indians would get as Queens added four more goals before the final whistle
Cullop paced Catawba with three goals and an assist. John Scheich (Waxhaw, NC/Weddington HS) and Steven Ridolfo (Charlotte, NC/Providence HS/Gettysburg) each had a pair of goals for the Indians.
