Catawba Athletics to Partner With Stretch Internet for Video Streaming

00_CatawbaAthletics

The Catawba College Athletic Department enjoyed a successful debut of its live video streaming in 2012-13.  In the inaugural year of streaming home athletic events Catawba Sports Information Director, Jim Lewis, stated 108 Catawba home events were successfully streamed during the year with nearly 5000 unique logins.  Going forward, Catawba has announced a partnership with Stretch Internet, to provide better quality and services.

Stretch Internet, based in Mesa, AZ, was founded in 2003 by a former college athletics media relations professional, Ryan Ermeling, who saw a need to provide affordable, high-quality streaming to college and university athletic departments. Stretch Internet now works with nearly 300 colleges and universities, high schools and professional sports organizations. A devotion to utilizing the best streaming technology possible and providing a first-class presentation – backed by the best customer support in the business – have helped Stretch Internet become one of the largest streaming media specialists in the sports industry.

Last year, the live video streaming typically consisted of a single camera feed with audio commentary and crowd noise.  Through the support of student workers and the financial support of advertisers Catawba has made plans to continue the growth of its video program over the next few years.

Plans for 2013-14 include adding graphics, video commercials, and post-game interviews to broadcasts.  Other enhancements for the near future would be to add replays, multiple camera angles and DVD sales.  As early as 2014-15, Catawba could provide broadcasts in high definition.

The switch to Stretch Internet will give Catawba elite video services tailored to give viewers the quality experience that they deserve.

Catawba will continue to provide its broadcasts free of charge.
