No. 3: Tysinger becomes Catawba’s first Division II Softball All-American.
Freshman Carley Tysinger becomes Catawba’s first softball player to be named a Division II All-American. Tysinger also earned conference and region Pitcher of the Year honors.
Tysinger claimed third team Daktronic, Inc., All-American honors. She led the South Atlantic Conference in wins, earned run average, strikeouts and shutouts. She posted 25 wins in her freshman year, while setting school records with 10 shutouts and 324 strikeouts. Tysinger had a 1.21 ERA and opponents hit for just a .164 average.
Nationally, Tysinger ranks 10th in strikeouts per seven innings (9.6) and ninth in ERA. She finished 14th in total wins, while being ninth in shutouts and hits allowed per seven innings (4.07).
Tysinger had earlier been named the Southeast Region Pitcher of the Year by Daktronics, Inc., and was the conference’s Freshman and Pitcher of the Year.
