United Way Benifits From "Mayors Cup Challege"
United Way of Rowan County is conducting its annual fund raising drive and this year people have the opportunity to give in a unique way, by texting. Catawba College and Livingstone College have partnered up with the Rowan County United Way to create the “Mayor’s Cup Fundraising Challenge”. The challenge will add a friendly competition to see which school can earn the most for the Rowan County United Way from now until September 21.
The United Way agencies provide much-needed human care services locally. In fact, unless you specifically designate your contribution to go elsewhere, all of your contribution stays right here in Rowan County to help our less fortunate friends and neighbors. Through this single unified campaign, our local support agencies receive the financial assistance they need to operate throughout the year.
Catawba’s President Brien Lewis is urging all fans to support this challenge. “The Mayor's Cup is a friendly rivalry on the football field and this texting challenge is a friendly rivalry for such a good cause -- the United Way.”
To donate simply text “#Indians” to (704) 633-1802 and a donation of $5 will be added to your monthly cell phone bill or credit card. Those wishing to give more can text multiple times.
