Catawba Men finish Second at Coastal Carolina Invitational, Women Third


CONWAY, SC -- The Catawba men were second and the women third among NCAA Division II participants at the Coastal Carolina University Cross Country Invitational held on Friday night on the campus of Coastal Carolina University.  The men’s were one of three Division II teams running while the women’s race had four. Both teams ran a 5k course with the Concord men and the Charleston (WV) women taking the team titles.

Sophomore Nathan Hatley (King, NC/W. Stokes HS) paced the Catawba men posting a seventh-place finish with a time of 17:26.  Matt Jordan-Steele (Lexington, NC/N. Davidson HS) and Alex Griffin (Monroe, NC/Piedmont HS) also finished in the top ten with times of 17:47 and 18:05, respectively.

Junior Olivia Myers (Lexington, NC/W. Davidson) lead the Lady Indians with a seventh-place finish of her own.  She had a time of 21:30 on the 5k course.  Erica Boles (King, NC/W. Stokes HS) clocked in at 21:53 and was ninth.
