Athletics Department Announces Progress In Soccer Field Construction
SALISBURY, NC -- The Catawba College Soccer teams have been working hard and tirelessly this past summer on a reconstruction project of their playing facilities. On Thursday morning Catawba coaches and administration were proud to announce progress of the project with the completion of their new bleachers.
Sturdisteel based out of Waco, TX began the installation on Monday afternoon and completed the project Thursday morning. The bleachers consist of four sections with eight rows to hold a capacity of 524 people. All seating is raised for easy viewing for the fans with the first row beginning three and a half feet off the ground with the eighth row at thirteen feet.
The Catawba athletic administration is proud to feature the easy access for those disabled in wheelchairs. The new construction features an wheelchair ramp as well as six spaces for those in wheelchairs and their companions.
Catawba Athletic Director spoke about the new feature stating, “We are excited to have the bleachers phase of the project completed. Our fans will immediately get to enjoy the new seating for our next home games on Oct. 9! This is an important and exciting step as we rebuild Frock Field this fall.”
Construction continues at Frock Fields as plans are already underway for a new scoreboard, a bench area and a two-story press box, as well as a sidewalk to the new bleachers.
