Men Finish Second, Women Third at Charlotte Cross Country Invitational
CHARLOTTE, NC -- The Catawba College cross country men were second and the women third among NCAA Division II participants at the Charlotte Cross Country Invitational held on Saturday morning at McAlpine Park. The Charlotte 49ers hosted the event. Both teams finished in fields of three NCAA II teams. The men completed an 8k course while the women ran a distance of 6k.
Sophomore Nathan Hatley (King, NC/W. Stokes HS) paced the Catawba men posting a eighth-place finish with a time of 28:52. Matt Jordan-Steele (Lexington, NC/N. Davidson HS) finished right behind in ninth with a time of 29:13.
Senior Olivia Myers (Lexington, NC/W. Davidson) finished in tenth position in the women's race to lead the Lady Indians with a time of 25:40.
Emory took both men's and women's team titles. In the men's division Catawba finished second and Limestone took third. For the women's division North Georgia was able to outpace Catawba for a second place finish.
The Catawba cross country teams will participant in the October 5th Haganstone Invitational Race in Greensboro, NC. The races are scheduled to start at 9:30 am.
