Boles and Griffin Lead Catawba at Royals XC Challenge
CHARLOTTE, NC -- The Catawba College cross country teams finished the Royals XC Challenge on Friday night at McAlpine Park. The Catawba women finished in 20th position, while the men finished 22nd. In the women's 5k Wingate University took top team honors. King won the 8k men's race just beating out Mars Hill University.
Erica Boles was the fastest of the Lady Indians finishing in 66th position. Boles crossed at a time of 20:09.8. Senior, Olivia Myers finished just over 32 seconds later in 93rd place. Audrey Huth and Rebekah Ricksecker finished first and second, respectively, but were unattached in the team totals. Huth finished in a time of 16:43.3. King's Hannah Witt took top attached honors with atime of 17:22.6.
In the men's race, Alex Griffin and Matt Jordan-Steele were the top two Catawba Indian finishers. Griffin finished in 86th position at 28:18.1 while Jordan-Steele was just five seconds and two positions behind.
The Catawba cross country teams will run next on Saturday, October 26th in the South Atlantic Conference Championships. The race will be held in Montreat, NC.
