Brevard closed within 19-15, but Tomlinson had a block and kill for a 22-15 edge. Brevard scored the first four points of set four then the Lady Indians responded with a 14-3 run. Lanier had three kills in the run and Morant served consecutive aces.
Lanier came up big for Catawba in the early stages of the fifth set. She killed off three straight Catawba points to help the Lady Indians to a 7-4 edge. Brevard rallied back. Kills from Joy Oswalt and Fatima Gharachorloo and an ace from Bailey Hayes tied the set. After two Catawba errors, another kill from Gharachorloo made it 10-7 Tornados.
