HIGH POINT, NC -- Catawba fell to NCAA I High Point 94-64 in a women's basketball exhibition game on Monday night at the Mills Center.  Chloe Bully (Hannut, BELGIUM/KOL Landen HS) led Catawba as she posted a double-double of 17 points and 10 rebounds.  Mallary Clay (Lansing, NC/Ashe Co. HS) and Emma Ucinski (Atlanta, GA/St. Pius X HS) also reached double figures with 14 points apiece.

Despite no made field goals and four turnovers in the opening five minutes, Catawba managed a 5-4 lead and went on top 14-9 with 11:17 to go in the half after a jumper by Ucinski.  High Point had pulled even by the 10 minute mark and went on top to stay at 19-16 after a three-point play by Kayla Keys at the 9:11 mark.

The Panthers slowly built their lead to 42-30 at the break in half filled with free throws.  High Point connected on 18-of-22 at the line, while Catawba was 11-of-19.  The Lady Indians committed 15 turnovers in the opening half and made just 33% (9-of-27) of their field goal attempts.  Catawba did hold a 27-26 edge on the boards.

High Point went on a 10-2 run to start the second half and Catawba faced an uphill battle the rest of the way.  Catawba clawed within 63-47 on a jumper by Clay with 10:09 remaining, but that would be as close as the Lady Indians could get.

Ucinski nearly joined Bully with a double-double as she grabbed nine rebounds.  Clay added five rebounds and three steals.  Bully also led Catawba with five assists and four steals.  Antoinette McPhail (Timmonsville, SC/Darlington HS/Paine) scored seven points, while Khadijah Brown(Warrenton, NC/Warren Co. HS/Allen) tallied six points, making all three of her shots.

Catawba ended up with 29 turnovers in the contest and struggled to just 36% shooting (20-of-56).  The Lady Indians went only 2-of-21 from behind the arc.  Stacia Robertson led High Point with 20 points and 10 rebounds.  The Panthers, who shot just 32% in the first half, canned 53% in the final 20 minutes.

The Catawba women will open their season on Nov. 12 at Pfeiffer with a 7:30 p.m. tip time.
