Hollandsworth Named SAC Special Teams Player of the Week
ROCK HILL, SC -- Catawba kicker Chad Hollandsworth (Kernersville, NC/E. Forsyth HS) has earned South Atlantic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week honors for the games played on Nov. 9. It was announced Monday by the league office. He was joined by Mars Hill quarterback Trent Miller and Lenoir-Rhyne defensive back as the conference’s weekly award winners.
Hollandsworth earned SAC Special Teams Player of the Week accolades for the second time this season after booting a game-winning 23-yard field goal as time expired in Catawba’s 20-17 win at North Greenville. The sophomore also connected on a 36-yard field goal in the first half and made both of his extra points.
Hollandworth handled punting duties as well, pinning NGU inside its own 20 twice. On the season, he is 5-of-9 on field goals, 24-of-25 on extra points and is averaging 34.3 yards per punt.
Miller had a historic game for Mars Hill on Saturday in the Lions’ 56-42 shootout victory over Wingate, throwing for 476 yards and a school-record six touchdown passes. The yardage total tied for the 13th-most from any quarterback in the nation this season, while the six scores were one shy of matching the SAC single-game record.
Miller completed 26-of-37 passes in the game while throwing just one interception and taking one sack. The redshirt freshman now has three 300-plus yard games this season, and Saturday marked the first time he’s eclipsed the 400-yard mark.
Miller is tied for the SAC lead with 20 touchdowns, while his average of 258.4 yards per game ranks third.
Green picked off three Alderson-Broaddus passes on Saturday, returning two for touchdowns on back-to-back possessions in Lenoir-Rhyne’s 62-24 win. The third-quarter pick-sixes went for 64 and 45 yards, respectively.
Green also had eight tackles and a pass breakup in the game. He leads the SAC and is tied for third in the nation with seven interceptions this season.
