Swim Teams Currently 8th at Wingate Fall Frenzy
CHARLOTTE, NC – The Catawba College swim teams are both in eight place after Saturday’s finals during the Wingate Fall Frenzy. Eleven men’s teams participated in the three day event while twelve participated in the women’s division.
The Catawba women current stand with 281.5 points in the meet which is sits just behind the University of North Florida with 312. Nadine Brockmann’s sixth place finish in the 200 yard freestyle ranks as the highest finals finish so far in the meet. Brockmann finished the even with a time of 1:55.26
In men’s action, Jevgenij Gamper came less than a second away from an NCAA-B cut time for the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 56.46. Gamper took second place in the event and is so far the highest finisher on the Catawba team. Finn Furstenwerth was the only other Catawba male to make an A-Final which came in the 400 yard IM. Furstenwerth finished fifth with at time of 4:05.45 that was 0.56 seconds away from a B-cut time.
Catawba will finish the meet on Sunday.
