Volleyball Signs Three For 2014 Season
SALISBURY, NC -- Catawba College volleyball coach, Ginger Hamric, has announced three signings for the 2014 season. Joining the volleyball program will be Allison Benton (High Springs, FL), Hadleigh Loy (Haw River, NC) and Rachel Stanford (Mechanicsville, VA).
Benton, a 5-10 outside hitter, was a standout at St. Francis High School. She was the runner-up for Florida 3A Player of the Year, helping the Wolves to the State Final Four. Benton posted 422 kills, four per set, while adding 37 blocks and 35 aces. She was named all-area and earned the Scholar Athlete Award. In 2012, St. Francis was the state runner-up. Benton played club with the Gainesville Juniors and was MVP of her AAU Nationals Club.
Loy, a 5-5 libero and setter, was a four-year starter at Eastern Alamance High School. She was a two-time all-conference pick and served as captain as a senior. Loy was team MVP as a senior, leading the Mid-State 3A Conference with 712 assists and ranking seventh in the state. She totaled 1,533 assists in her career with 138 aces. Loy played club volleyball with the Alamance Force.
Stanford, a 5-10 setter, started three years at Atlee High School. She was named conference Player of the Year as a senior, helping the Raiders to a state title and a 32-2 record. Stanford handed out 698 assists and served 105 aces. She was a first team all-region selection as a senior and a two-time all-district pick. Stanford is also a member of the Richmond Volleyball Club team.
