Arrington's Big Second Half Helps Rally Men's Basketball Past Tusculum
SALISBURY, NC -- Catawba rallied to pull out a 93-89 overtime win over visiting Tusculum in South Atlantic Conference men's basketball action on Saturday afternoon night at Goodman Gym. Catawba never led in regulation, but a pair of free throws by Tyrece Little (Greenville, NC/Rose HS) 50 seconds into the extra period put the Indians up 78-76. The Pioneers got the lead back as Jalen Walker (White Sulphur Springs, WV) answered with a three-point play only to see the Indians reel off the next six points. Arrington had two free throws, Chance Rucker (Concord, NC/Concord HS/Benedict) a layup and Little a tip-in for an 84-79 lead with 2:28 to go.
Cory Fagan (Oak Ridge, TN) cut a six-point deficit in half with 1:06 remaining, but Arrington answered with a three-pointer of his own to make it 90-84 with 34 ticks left. Walker again made it a one-possession game on a three-pointer with 13 seconds remaining but Arrington made a free throw with nine seconds to play for the final margin.
Little had a double-double for Catawba with 12 points and 10 rebounds. He also blocked five shots, including two in overtime that led to quick layups. A free throw by Little made it 76-74 with 1:47 left and after two missed free throws from Walker, Arrington tied it on a drive in the lane.
