Men's Basketball Falls at Limestone
GAFFNEY, SC -- Host Limestone rode 33 points from PJ Foster to a 79-59 win over Catawba in men's basketball action on Saturday afternoon at the Timken Center. The Saints improve to 9-3, while the Catawba Indians fall to 2-7.
Foster canned 10-of-18 shots, including a 9-of-14 performance from behind the arc. He had 18 points at the break as Limestone built a 40-26 advantage that Catawba was unable to cut into during the final 20 minutes. Josh Odem followed with 13 points and Asaad Woods added 10. Jamal McNeill had a monster night on the boards with 17 rebounds.
Kijuan Arrington (Newport News, VA/Denbigh HS/Henry CC) once again led Catawba as he scored 17 points and pulled down eight rebounds. Troy Warren (Mooresville, NC/Lake Norman HS) also reached double figures, scoring 10 points and grabbing seven rebounds.
Catawba took its lone lead of the game when Warren opened the scoring a little over a minute into the contest. The Saints scored the next nine points and went up 16-6 after a three-pointer and jumper from Foster. Foster started the key run in the final nine minutes of the half. His three-pointer started a 10-point spurt that sent the lead to 36-18.
Limestone grabbed a 21-point lead midway into the second half and the Indians could only get as close as 14 the rest of the way. The Saints canned 13 three-pointers in the contest, held a 48-45 edge on the boards and made six fewer turnovers than Catawba.
Catawba returns from the break to host Anderson at Goodman Gym on January 4. Tip time for the conference tilt is set for 4 p.m.
