Little Posts Double-Double for Men's Basketball in Season-Ending Loss
HARROGATE, TN -- Catawba lost its season finale 110-61 to 13th-ranked Lincoln Memorial in South Atlantic Conference men's basketball action on Saturday night at Tex Turner Arena. The league champion Railsplitters improve to 24-2 overall and 20-2 in the SAC. The Catawba Indians finish up at 7-19 and 7-15.
Tyrece Little (Greenville, NC/Rose HS) posted a double-double for Catawba with 23 points and 10 rebounds. He also added five blocked shots. Troy Warren (Mooresville, NC/Lake Norman HS), Jalen Byrd (Hickory, NC/Hickory HS) and senior Chris Watson (Reidsville, NC/Reidsville HS/Rockingham CC) all had eight points for the Indians.
Vincent Bailey had a big night for the host Railsplitters. He canned 11of-19 from the field and went 12-of-15 at the line in scoring 34 points. He also had a double-double as he claimed 21 rebounds. Chance Jones added 19 points and Luquon Choice tallied 16. Tim Pierce rounded out the double digit scorers with 11 points.
Catawba scored the first basket of the game, but trailed 12-3 after four minutes. Jones sank a three-pointer at the 11:06 mark to make it 24-8. Catawba got within 28-21 following a three-pointer from Byrd then saw the Railsplitters put the game away by scoring 16 straight points and closing the half on a 19-4 run.
LMU shot 52% on the night and dominated the boards by a 61-35 margin. Catawba hit on just over 30% for the game and made only 25% in the opening half.
