Rutherford Leads Indians to Place 5th After First Round of Hargett Memorial
PINEHURST, NC – The Catawba College men’s golf team finished the first round of the J. Ralph Hargett Memorial Intercollegiate tournament in a fifth place tie with Brevard at 311. Wingate University is hosting the two day tournament at the 6,632 yard, par-72 National Golf Club. Queens University currently leads all teams with a score of 300.
Catawba’s Tyler Rutherford currently sits one stroke behind the tournament leader, Benedict Gebhardt, shooting par on the day. Zach Griffis was the second lowest finisher for the Indians at five strokes behind Rutherford.
The 14th annual J. Ralph Hargett Memorial Intercollegiate tournament concludes with the second round Tuesday. Tee times begin at 9 a.m.
