Tennis Splits With Lenoir-Rhyne With 6-3 Scores
SALISBURY, NC – The Catawba College tennis teams split with Lenoir Rhyne on Thursday afternoon in South Atlantic Conference action at the Johnson Tennis Center. Catawba’s women won 6-3 to improve to 11-11 on the year and 3-5 in the SAC. The Catawba men fell to the Bears 6-3 to drop to 8-13 overall and 1-7 in conference. With the loss for the Lady Bears they now stand at 8-9 overall and 1-5 in the SAC. The Lenoir-Rhyne men are now 5-12 and 2-4.
In women’s play, Catawba started out with a 2-1 advantage after doubles play. Lenoir-Rhyne played tough in singles action forcing three, three-set matches. The Lady Indians were able to claim four of the six single action matches.
For the men, the teams fought hard all day long. In the #2 and #3 doubles the Catawba men fell but forced each match to 8-6 scores. In singles action, Catawba forced four matches to three sets but was only able to claim victory in one of those matches.
Catawba will host another South Atlantic Conference match up on Sunday as they play Lincoln Memorial at 11am.
