Tennis Falls 6-3 Against Lincoln Memorial
SALISBURY, NC – The Catawba College tennis teams both took a 6-3 loss to the LMU Railsplitters on Sunday afternoon in South Atlantic Conference play. With the loss the Lady Indians fall to 11-12 on the year and 3-6 in the SAC, while the men now stand at 8-14 and 1-8. For the Railsplitters the women improve to 6-4 overall and 3-2 in conference and the men advance to 3-6 and 1-4.
In women’s action, Catawba jumped out to a 2-1 advantage after doubles play. LMU responded in singles action by claim victories in all but one match. Lauren Sledd is the lone Catawba player to claim a win in both singles and doubles action on the day.
For the men, Catawba claimed an 8-2 victory at the #1 doubles while falling at #2 and #3 duo. In singles action Pierce Hoover claimed a 6-0, 6-0 win at the top flight to even up the score at two apiece. The Railsplitters rallied to claim the next four positions before Aaron Vanhorenbeck won in the sixth seed.
The Indians will host another South Atlantic Conference match on Friday as they take on Anderson at 1:30pm.
