Hawks Named SAC Baseball Player of the Week
ROCK HILL, SC -- Catawba outfielder Keaton Hawks (Lexington, NC/E. Davidson HS) and Wingate starting pitcher Ben Currie have been named the SAC Baseball Players of the Week. It was announced Tuesday by the conference office.

Hawks hit .478 with a .500 on-base percentage last week, leading Catawba to a 4-1 record, including a weekend SAC sweep of Mars Hill.
Hawks had multiple hits in each contest last week, highlighted by a 3-for-4 performance on Friday in game one of the Mars Hill series. He doubled twice and recorded four RBI on Wednesday at UNC Pembroke, and totaled two doubles, a home run and six RBI in the MHU series.
The senior’s 50 hits this season currently rank third in the SAC.
SAC Baseball Pitcher of the Week | Ben Currie, Wingate
Currie threw a seven-inning complete-game shutout on Saturday against UNC Pembroke, allowing just two hits – both singles - while striking out four and walking none. UNCP’s offense entered the weekend leading the nation in hits and doubles.
Currie needed just 80 pitches to register the complete-game, which was his fourth-straight. He is tied for third in the SAC with seven wins, ranks fourth with 59 strikeouts and fifth with a 2.30 ERA.
