Tennis End Seasons With Split at Brevard
BREVARD, NC -- The Catawba College tennis teams split with South Atlantic Conference foe, Brevard. The Lady Indians fell 5-4 while the men claimed a 6-3 win. With the loss the Lady Indians now stand at 12-14 and 3-8 in the SAC while the men improve to 9-16 overall and 2-9 in conference.
In women’s action the Lady Indians dropped the first two matches in doubles play. Brevard would claim the top three singles matches to secure a team victory. Catawba would rebound to claim victories in #4-6 positions but it was too late. Alli Prior and Olivia Myers both claimed victories in singles and doubles play.
The Catawba men were able to claim wins at the #1 and #2 doubles before dropping a match at the #3 position. Pierce Hoover, Matthew Nicholson and Michael Patch each claimed wins in singles and doubles play. The trio’s wins in singles action secured the win for Catawba, ending a six match losing streak. Iago Montero Nunez claimed the final point for the Indians with a pair of 6-0 victories.
The match concludes the season for both Catawba teams who fell short of the conference tournament.
