Indians Play Strong Despite 1-0 Heartbreak Loss
SALISBURY, N.C. -- The Catawba men’s soccer team opened up their 2014 campaign Thursday night with a heartbreaking 1-0 loss to Lees-McRae. The lone goal came with a mere eleven seconds left on the clock. With the loss the Catawba Indians fall to 0-1 on the year while the Bobcats begin their season 1-0.
James Galvani netted the game winner for the Bobcats as a result of a Daniel Harris corner kick. The tribe were out shot 14-5 in the match with only one shot landing on goal. Christian Watts (Plymouth, ENGLAND) recorded four saves for Catawba. The action was not slow during the ninety minutes as the teams combined for 26 fouls and five yellow cards.
Both teams return to Frock Field this Saturday as they will participate in a double header. Lees-McRae will open the night against Newberry at 5pm while the Indians will host Francis Marion at 7:30pm.
