Indians Fall 2-0 to Francis Marion in 2014 Catawba Classic
SALISBURY, NC -- The Catawba men's soccer team concluded the 2014 Catawba Classic with a 2-0 loss to Francis Marion on Saturday night at Frock Field. The Indians fall to 0-2 on the year while the Patriots improve to 2-0.
FMU graduate student Benjamin Kwast scored off an assist from Sven Ricke to put Francis Marion up 1-0 in the eighth minute. The Patriots' other score came in the 71st minute. Junior David Sheridan's shot from 35 yards out clanged off the crossbar and the rebound would eventually end up at Ricke's feet who put it past Catawba goalie Christian Watts.
The Indians outshot Francis Marion 11-9 but could not get the ball into the net. Patriot goalie Mike Warn recorded five saves in the win. Watts recorded one of his own on the day.
Catawba will return to Frock field on Wednesday evening as they host Barton at 7:00pm.
