Men's Golf Starts Season at Anderson Invitational on Monday
The Catawba men’s golf team will tee it up for the first time this season at the Anderson Invitational on Monday and Tuesday. The men will play the par-72 Cobb’s Glen course at 7,005 yards. This is one of five tournaments for the men in the fall.
Catawba returns the majority of its men’s team from last year, including honorable mention All-South Atlantic Conference performers Matt Hardman and Tyler Rutherford. Hardman, who was fourth at last year’s SAC Championship, has played well over the summer as he qualified for the US Amateur that was held last month.
Hardman, a senior, led the team last year with a 74.5 stroke average and posted three top five finishes. Rutherford, a junior, had a win at the Full Moon BBQ Invitational and posted one other top 10 finish. He was second on the team with a 75.1 stroke average, while senior Zach Griffis followed with a 78.1 stroke average.
