Men's Golf Takes Fifth at Full Moon BBQ Invitational as Donaldson Posts a Top 10
CALERA, Ala. -- The Catawba men's golf team moved up one spot and finished fifth at the Full Moon BBQ Invitational which concluded on Tuesday at the par-71, 6,745-yard Timberline Golf Club. Individually, senior Brian Donaldson (Clinton, N.C./Clinton HS) placed sixth after today's even-par round of 71.
The Catawba Indians shaved nine shots off their first round total to card a 284 in the final round and post a 577 total. West Georgia won the tournament with a score of 549. Donaldson, who had a 140 total, was six shots behind medallist Kevin Clarke, of West Georgia. Clarke followed an opening 66 with a 68.
Tyler Rutherford (Independence Va./Grayson Co. HS) had the best round for Catawba in round two with a one-under-par 70 and finished in a tie for 18th with teammate Matt Hardman (Gettysburg, Penn./Gettysburg Area HS). Hardman shot 71 on Tuesday as both he and Rutherford finished at 144.
Catawba will return to action in two weeks at the Tusculum Fall Classic at the Link Hills Country Club on Sept. 29-30.
