Jordan-Steele, Boles and Hedgepeth Post Top 10s at Hagan Stone Classic
PLEASANT GARDEN, N.C. -- The Catawba cross country teams competed Saturday at the Hagan Stone Classic with Matt Jordan-Steele (Lexington, N.C./N. Davidson HS) posting a 10th-place finish for the men and Erica Boles (King, N.C./W. Stokes HS) and DeAnna Hedgepeth (Wytheville, Va./George Wythe HS) finishing in the top 10 for the women. The men placed fourth out of the five NCAA Division II teams at the meet, while the women did not score as a team with just four runners.
Jordan-Steele covered the 8k men's course in a time of 27.56 for his 10th place. Nathan Hatley (King, N.C./W. Stokes HS) was just a few seconds behind at 28:11 to claim a 12th-place finish. Boles posted a time of 20:43 in the women's 5k. That put her in fifth place overall. Hedgepeth finished in a time of 21:13 in seventh. Freshman Jennifer Lomax (Concord, N.C./Mt. Pleasant HS) was just outside the top 10, running a time of 22:21 and placing 13th.
