Baseball outscores Anderson 15-9

SALISBURY, NC -- Catawba College won its fourth straight game with a 15-9 decision over visiting Anderson in baseball action on Tuesday night at Newman Park. Catawba improves to 15-8 overall, while the Trojans fall to 13-6. Catawba scored five times in the bottom of the second to grab the early lead. Nick Lefko (Faith, NC) had a two-run homer in the inning, while Scott Searles (Boston, MA) had a two-run double. The Indians built their lead to 9-1 after four innings before Anderson rallied in the fifth on a two-run double by Jason Jones (S. Boston, VA) and a two-run homer by F.A. Vildosola (Pembroke Pines, FL) to close within 9-5. A second two-run shot by Vildosola in the seventh helped the Trojans cut the deficit to 10-7, but the Tribe responded with five runs in the eighth. Spence Southard (Greensboro, NC) led off the eighth with a home run, while the other four came after an error. Chad Hill (Bennett, NC) doubled home the final two runs. Matt Fairweather (Lenoir, NC) earned the win on the mound. He tossed five innings, allowing eight hits and four earned runs. Hill had three hits for Catawba, including a double and a triple. Aaron Rimer (Salisbury, NC) also had three hits for the Tribe. Vildodola had three hits, including his two homers, and five RBI. Daniel Kitchens (Coral Springs, FL) and Jason Ratliff (Prosperity, SC) also had three hits for Anderson. #####
