Davis Holds Strong to Ensure 1-0 Victory Over Tusculum
GREENVILLE, TN -- The Catawba College women's soccer team held on to a 1-0 lead to defeat Tusculum in South Atlantic Conference action Monday afternoon at Greenville High School. The win helped the Lady Indians to improve to 8-4 overall and 4-3 in the South Atlantic Conference. Tusculum falls to 8-4-1 with the loss and 4-2 in the conference.
Catawba's lone goal came in the first half off a Kiersten Peck corner kick. Senior Allison Parker headed in the lob to beat the Tusculum keeper.
The action became intense in the final two minutes of the game where Catawba goalie, Bethany Davis, recorded three of her six saves in the match. The most important save the match came with 19 seconds left on the clock as Davis stopped a penalty kick by Nikki Arthur.
Catawba returns home to Frock Field Wednesday night to host Lees-McRae at 7:00 p.m.
