Peck, Weisner Connect In Final Minutes To Defeat Lee-McRae 1-0
SALISBURY, N.C. -- Kiersten Peck scored her first goal of the season in the final minutes to lift the Catawba College women’s soccer team to a 1-0 victory over the Lees-McRae Bobcats Wednesday night at Frock Field. The win gives Catawba a 9-4 record on the year while the Bobcats fall to 4-7-1.
Kate Weisner setup the game winner in the 87th minute with an attack to the right of the goal. Weisner powered the ball across the net from the end line to connect with a charging Peck. The goal and assist was the first of the year for both.
The Bobcats had chances of their own but Catawba goalie Bethany Davis stopped every attempt. Davis tallied her second shutout of the year after recording five saves. Kaitlyn Briggs saved seven shots for Lees-McRae.
Catawba returns to South Atlantic conference play Saturday evening to host Brevard at 5:00 p.m.
