HARROGATE, Tenn. -- Host Lincoln Memorial swept past Catawba in South Atlantic Conference volleyball action on Friday night at Mars Gym.  The Railsplitters picked up the win by the scores of 25-19, 25-21, 25-22 to improve to 12-9 overall and 8-5 in the SAC.  The Catawba Indians fell to 5-13 and 3-10.

Alex Hopper (Madison, N.C./McMichael HS) posted seven kills from Catawba, while Erin Morant (Bealeton, Va./Liberty HS) and McKenzie Garrison (Conover, N.C./Maiden HS) each had six.  Garrison added 16 digs and a pair of blocks.  Setter Kaytee Frabotta (Sterling Heights, Mich./Henry Ford II HS) had 10 digs and 20 assists with Rachel Stanford (Mechanicsville, Va./Atlee HS) serving a pair of aces.

Brooke Fleeman had nine kills for LMU.  Jazzy Oates collected eight kills and three blocks.  Casey Mense served six aces and recorded 16 digs.

Lincoln Memorial jumped out quickly in set one, grabbing a 9-3 edge.  A pair of kills by Garrison helped the Lady Indians cut the deficit to 11-8, but LMU stayed in front until eventually winning the set on an ace from Mense.

LMU led 9-4 early in set two before Catawba rallied and took a 13-12 edge.  The set stayed tight until a late 3-0 Railsplitter run that was capped by an ace from Oates put LMU up 22-18.  A kill from Hopper got Catawba within 23-21 before kills from Fleeman and Kiera Holland ended the set.

Catawba again found itself down big in the early going of set three as LMU led 8-2 after an ace from Mense.  Stanford served consecutive aces to cut the margin to 8-5 and the Lady Indians eventually tied it at 9-9.  LMU used a 5-0 spurt to lead 17-12 and a kill from Kara Solek made it 19-13.  Catawba got back in the set pulling even at 21-all.  Oates followed with two kills and later put away match point.

Catawba will play twice tomorrow in Jefferson City, Tenn.  The Lady Indians follow their SAC contest at 1 pm with Carson-Newman with a non-conference tilt with Belmont Abbey around 4 pm.
