Late Goal Proves Costly in 2-1 Loss to Brevard
SALISBURY, N.C. -- The Catawba College men’s soccer team fell 2-1 to Brevard in South Atlantic Conference action Saturday night at Frock Field. Catawba now stands at 4-9-1 on the season and 1-6-1 in conference. Brevard improves to 4-9-1 and 2-5.
With less than ten minutes remaining, Brevard’s Sergi Monso collected a pass from Jordan Brown at the top of the box and turned past the Catawba defense to put the ball in the net. Catawba was unable to respond in the remaining minutes despite a few quality opportunities.
Catawba’s lone goal came in the 48th minute of the match from Jack Pettett. The goal was Pettett’s first of the year.
Catawba goalie, Christian Watts, recorded three saves in the match while Brevard’s Heath Turner saved five.
Catawba travels to Lenior-Rhyne Wednesday night for a 7:30 p.m. kickoff.
