The Wolves bounced back to go up 20-16 and were ahead 24-20 before Catawba rallied back.
A combo block from Morant and Gallup started the push and Morant combined with Stanford on a block to make it 24-23. Gallup killed off two points to give the Lady Indians a 25-24 lead, but Horton blocked a point for Newberry to tie the set. After a hitting error by Catawba, Amanda Soper posted a kill to end the set.
Catawba led early in set two as the Lady Indians took a 15-9 lead following a kill from McKenzie Garrison (Newton, N.C./Maiden HS). Two kills by Howard put Catawba on top 18-12, but the Wolves scored the next seven points, two on blocks from Horton, to go up 19-18. The teams stayed within a point until Newberry scored the final two points of the set on Catawba errors.
The Lady Indians took a big lead in set three, holding a 14-5 edge after a kill from Ashley Brown (Hendersonville, N.C./N. Henderson HS). Newberry came all the way back to tie the set at 21-all before Catawba won the set with the final three points. Howard kills off the first point, the second came on a combo block by Frabotta and Abby Pennington (Blacksburg, Va./Blacksburg HS) and the last on a Newberry hitting error.
Newberry took the late momentum into the fourth set and jumped out to an 11-2 lead. A kill from Pennington got the Lady Indians within 12-6 before Newberry put the match away. An 8-0 run included four straight aces from Moran to give the hosts a 21-7 lead. Brittany Tolbert killed off the match point.
