Indians Knocked Out of SAC Tournament With 3-0 Loss to Top Seeded LR
ROCK HILL, S.C. -- The Catawba College women’s soccer team fell 3-0 in the South Atlantic Conference semifinals to Lenoir-Rhyne at Manchester Meadows in Rock Hill, S.C. The fifth seeded Catawba Lady Indians finished the season with an 11-6-3 record. Lenoir-Rhyne entered the tournament as the top seed and will move to the championship game Sunday afternoon against Wingate University. The Bears of Lenior-Rhyne are currently 16-3-1 on the year.
Lenoir-Rhyne scored their first goal in the 24th minute of the game by Casey Marlin. The Bears would add a goal in the 67th minute and Marlin would score again in the 70th minute to close out the game.
Catawba was outshot 26-4 in the match and only two of their shots landed on goal. Lenoir-Rhyne placed 16 shots on goal but Catawba keeper Bethany Davis managed to stonewall 13 of them.
