Indians Struggle at Anderson in 92-63 Loss
ANDERSON, S.C. -- The Anderson University Trojans relied on eleven three-point baskets to drop Catawba College 92-63 Saturday evening at Abney Center. With the win, Anderson improves to 7-5 overall and 3-3 in the South Atlantic Conference. Catawba falls to 5-6 on the season and 3-3 in conference.
Anderson jumped out early with a 7-0 lead which Catawba would not be able to recover from. Anderson’s lead was a result of strong three point shooting going 11-for-23 on the night. Catawba would shoot 4-for-20 from behind the arc.
Catawba shot a tremendous 95.7% (22-for-23) from the free throw line scoring over a third of their points from the charity stripe. Anderson would reach the free throw line 40 times in the game going 29-for-40.
Jerrin Morrison led Catawba in scoring with 15 points followed by KJ Arrington with 13 points and Rakeen Brown with 12 points. Arrington would lead Catawba in rebounds with five.
Anderson held the rebounding edge 48-19 behind Nick Jackson who tallied ten. Jackson added 13 points in the game. DJ McGowan helped Jackson with 12 points and eight rebounds of his own. Myson Jones led all scorers on the night with 16 total points.
Catawba hopes to rebound as they travel to Newberry Wednesday evening for a 8:00 p.m. tipoff.
